DoodStream hosts millions of adult videos and is the backbone of many free tubes, ours included. You get an embed player, a full API (upload, clone, file info, images), FTP uploads and a cloning feature that copies another user’s public file into your account in seconds.
What we learned running it at scale
- Files nobody watches get deleted. Without an active premium plan, files with no views for about 30 days are purged. When our premium lapsed we lost hundreds of thousands of old files in days. Keep a record of each file’s original source so you can restore it.
- The image server is unreliable. Thumbnails behind its image host time out for hours at a time, and the “splash” image is a 4×4 contact sheet, not a single frame. Generate and host your own thumbnails (WebP) instead of hotlinking.
- Restrict the embed to your domains in the account settings, and remember to add every new domain, or the player shows “embed restricted”.
- Its own pre-roll and its player ignore autoplay; a single-click play experience needs care.
👍 Good
- Free and unlimited storage
- Full API + FTP + cloning
- Accepts adult content
👎 Watch out
- Deletes unwatched files without premium
- Image server outages
- Player and ads are outside your control
Verdict: Usable and cheap, but treat every file as temporary: keep originals or re-sources on record.
